Bunnygirl and The Lamb of Go!

Once upon a time, the Hebrew people were in bondage (not the popular kind you won't learn about until you're much older, but the kind without a safe word and generally without a lot of perks or happiness) in Egypt. It was not cool. Really not cool. God sent a dude named Moses - bit of a temper, some trauma from being floated down the river as a kid, bad stutter, but nice beard - to Pharaoh demanding that the Hebrews be freed. Let my peeps go, Moses and/or Aaron said. And all the chorus got into it until there was singing and dancing and the firstborns were all painting them houses with lambs blood and that attracted some locusts and then it got dark, so they turned on the strobe lights and a bunch of lambs showed up - they were lambs of god, turns out - with a bunch of chocolate eggs filled with a creamy candy sauce. And Pharaoh said "no, dude, free labor. Like hell I'm giving that up with today's supply and demand curves." So God sent several chocolate covered marshmallow peeps to set in upon the land, until plastic colored "grass" grew instead of crops and everyone was hungry. Pharaoh let the Hebrews go, but changed his mind again and came running after them and that's when a giant bunny named Easter came and all the Hebrews jumped on their backs and swam over the Red Sea.  Pharaoh got mad and crucified this one Hebrew named Jesus, but the Easter Bunny saved him and gave him some on ups and then Jesus turned the Red Sea into wine (I mean it was red, so...) and everyone had a big party except for Pharoah, who was a sore loser.

Now we celebrate by finding eggs and eating candy. Because... I don't pagans or something. Have fun!

It's EASTER WEEK!!!!

The best holiday ever for a little bunny girl (she's now accepted she will not become a bunny in this lifetime, but when she dies she is going to come back as a bunny, so fits the Easter theme).

Meaning it's also Passover week!

No Hebrews were harmed in the making of this very shiksa last minute seder plate. Andrew and Allan were skiing with the fam in Tahoe for spring break (oh yeah, SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO). But they zoomed me in for the Pesach festivities on Friday evening. Which was awesome. I really enjoy Passover. We've celebrated in one way or another with Andrew's family since the year I was pregnant with Allan. It meant *a lot* to me to be able to be part of it. There's something really magic about the ritual, the meaning, the plate full of food I can't quite eat, but still nibble at. The storytelling. How far it goes and how long its endured. So cool. And as somebody whose ability to travel is markedly limited, being able to transport there semi-magically has been a real gift.

It was also nice that they could physically return in time for easter, because that's an important one. For and my family, but also because... duh... Allan's a bunny and likes candy so secular Easter is a hit.

I am always happy to assist Frosty the Easter Bunny (It's a long story but i started this years ago and Allan will always remember that the Easter Bunny is named Frosty and lives with elves at the north pole... dunno!)

Of course Allan has gotten another decent haul. We don't just do candy. I mean there's candy, but Allan's actually not as motivated by candy as other kids. She usually gets tired of it after a minor gorge. She also got her very first checkbook!

That's right, we've started the allowance. And since everything is really digital these days, we opted for giving her points that are roughly changeable to 100 points for a dollar. She bought her first thing the other day: a giraffe poster. And she wrote her first check! They're really cute checks and sure nobody writes checks that much, but it's still a cool way to contemplate value and debits.

She also got bunny ears (of course), because she's been wearing the one pair she's had since 6 months to school every day recently. A rainbow egg that hatches into a unicorn after being in water for a few days. Which is fascinating me way more than anyone. Also a book. Some bath crayons that actually made her feel enthusiasm for the bath this week. And... well wait on the final item. It's not pictured and first we must search the house!

Allan warmed up by looking for the affikomen at Passover (which she found with a steady stream of "warmer warmer colder warmer" from her father. She found almost all of them on her own, only needing steady assists for the last 10th or so. It's been improving!

Oh and one more Easter dress, because the bunny one from last year is getting small...

The shoes are her "Easter shoes' which actually they are. I gave them to her like a year ago and they were crazy too big and they are just now finally fitting. Praise the shoes! They're good!

Exciting week for all involved.

Andrew and i also had our anniversary on the 6th, which was low key, but has started something big. Pokemon-Go. I just I don't even know why I thought of it. But i thought maybe it would be fun for an anniversary date or maybe not and then suddenly we were downloading it. And...

now we're both very addicted. It's been fun. We've been conquering gyms and battling raids together and it's very bonding. So that's been cool.

Feel to add me. I'll send you gifts!

In other worlds... It's back to school today and Allan is of course back in full bunny. And a mask because she's had a nasty sounding cough for over a week now. I was kind of worried they'd send her back home today since it's pretty obviously a "symptom" and they have a theoretically hardline on any potential symptoms. But I guess nobody gives a rat's tushy about covid anymore. I did make her go back to wearing her mask, which may or may not have stuck. But I tried.

Allan is still madly devoted to her bestie Yael, and Yael isn't wearing masks anymore. I'd point out to Allan that Yael also doesn't wear bunny ears and that doesn't stop Allan from needing those. But...well peer pressure and identify works in mysterious ways.

Allan largely is gearing up to be Yael's thug when Yael starts her crime empire. Loyalty that's blinder than love. But for now they have fun. Here they have hatched several pinecone babies from the nest they made and are taking them to dentist and/or the doctor after they've pooped, showered and eaten. Sometimes they fly too. Usually from a very high spot in the school yard and usually with some screaming.

But we don't limit ourselves to pinecone friends at school. I am a wholesale adventure mom! Little while back, we had a playdate at the zoo. I warrant we saw about 5 wild animals... Basically the kids jumped in a puddle, drew with chalk on some picnic tables and then spent the rest of the time at the play area. Which was a cool play area. But one day I'm going back without my daughter, because I swear we never actually do the zoo thing at the zoo.

Also... I bet there are mad pokemon at the zoo!

As you can see, we are stocked on bunny ears. But she actually likes the yellow ones better because they look more realistic I guess.

You get the idea.

Still swinging on the wild cycles of a little bunny girl.

It's nice to have her back...

... and nice to have her back at school today! One maniacal over tired punchy day of holiday glazed child is enough here!

time to go back to work...

... even though...
... dang that video game looks way more fun...

Happy spring holidaze! May your spring breaks be merry and may all the parents who have kids at home with them, survive!
