And scratch the "no commitments" thing; I've actually been shaping the young legal minds of tomorrow (FLS - UWLS' two week orientation from hell - began this Monday and I have ascended to the honorable position of "peer mentor") by not telling them how awful the next year of their lives is about to be. I also shrug, look confused, and give partial answers to a bunch of extraordinary technical questions that I never had a reason to know. Oh and wander around looking confused because there really was no orientation for the orienters and other than the occasional email or 3L directing us to a room we've had no guidance whatsoever.
And today I fielded a conference call from my old internship regarding something I researched in July and consulted about through August. Fortunately I wasn't particularly needed, so the odd and spacy "mmm," "yes, that's what we had discussed" sufficed rather well. And I've moved my car a few times and tried to run. In fact I've suceeded in doing so for a bit but my legs feel sludgy and my brain and balance and general naviational skills are pretty frenetic, so today I compromised with a walk instead. But in my head I am doing nothing.
Anyways, perhaps if I'm really lucky I've actually contracted the next new epidemic. Swine flu is so 2008. I'm hoping for the Ring-Tailed Coati plague. "Plague" is the new "flu," or so I've heard. If so, then you can say you knew me/read me when... won't you feel famous. I'm signing autographs now... although you might want to spray 'em down with lysol first.
As you can tell, the gates of heaven have already opened up in my side closet, so it will be easy to cross-over at any rate:
